NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Reds on Friday placed veteran lefthander Kent Mercker on the 15-day disabled list with lower back pain.
The move for Mercker, who is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 11 2/3 innings over 13 appearances, is retroactive to Tuesday.
Filling the empty spot on the roster will be lefthander Bill Bray, who was recalled from Class AAA Louisville for his second stint with Cincinnati.
Bray, who was first called up on April 28, has not allowed a run and six hits in four innings over four games with the Reds this season.
Cincinnati (14-21), which took two of three games from the Chicago Cubs during the week, will open a three-game series with the New York Mets later Friday. |
