A dramatic comeback helped the New York Mets re-establish their success over the San Francisco Giants.

Giving the ball to Jonathon Niese, especially at home, may only extend it.

Following Josh Satin's clutch hitting, Niese looks to continue his recent home dominance and help the Mets take this three-game set from the Giants on Thursday.

New York (68-83) scored five runs in the final two innings, including four in the ninth after Satin's two-run, walkoff single provided the winning margin in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over San Francisco. He also plated a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly.

"If there's anything that typifies what we're trying to do here, it was that ninth inning," manager Terry Collins said. "When you're playing the world champions, down by three, Matt Cain is mowing you down, it might be easy to say to yourself, 'We don't belong here.'"

The Mets may have felt that way Tuesday, dropping the series opener 8-5 to end their five-game winning streak over the Giants.

New York is trying to conclude this 11-game homestand with five wins in seven games after being swept by Washington in a four-game set.

Turning to Niese (7-7, 3.88 ERA) could help since he's 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA in seven starts since returning from a partially torn left rotator cuff. The left-hander has been particularly impressive in three home games, going 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA.

He won at Citi Field again Friday, allowing three runs and two homers with seven strikeouts before being pulled with one out in the seventh of a 4-3 victory over Miami.

Niese is 1-1 with a 3.10 ERA in three career starts versus the Giants. He last faced them Aug. 1, 2012, when he allowed one run in seven innings of a 2-1 road win.

San Francisco will counter Niese with Madison Bumgarner (12-9, 2.83), one of the club's most consistent starters.

The left-hander has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 18 straight starts, San Francisco's longest such streak since Tim Lincecum went 19 games from Aug. 16, 2007-June 11, 2008.

Bumgarner pulled within one game of that streak in impressive fashion in Friday's 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He outpitched Clayton Kershaw, allowing two runs and five hits with six strikeouts in six innings.

Despite his consistent stretch, Bumgarner's victory over the Dodgers was his first in eight starts since he's been backed by an average of 2.7 runs.

He got plenty of help in his only visit to Citi Field on April 23, 2012, allowing one run and three hits in seven innings of a 7-2 victory.

Gregor Blanco has been superb at the plate during a seven-game hitting streak, going 12 for 23 (.522) with five RBIs and five runs. He had a two-run homer Wednesday, but he's just 1 for 6 versus Niese.

Buster Posey is 4 for 8 with two doubles and a homer off the Mets starter, but he's 1 for 17 while the Giants are 3-2 on this 10-game road trip.
