Paul Stastny may be hoping to turn a scoring outburst into the start of a streak.

Another meeting with the Dallas Stars might be exactly what he needs.

Stastny attempts to build on his best performance of the season Tuesday night and help the Colorado Avalanche complete a home-and-home sweep of the Stars.

Stastny went nine games without a point and missed two other contests over that stretch with a back injury. The center ended that drought in a big way Monday, scoring two goals and assisting on two others in a 6-2 home win over Dallas.

"I always put pressure on myself," Stastny said. "Of anyone I was probably the most frustrated. Whether I show it or not, you guys won't see it."

The two-time All-Star likely is looking forward to another meeting with the Stars since he's totaled 30 points over his last 24 games, including 14 in 12 at Dallas.

Stastny has a six-game point streak at American Airlines Center, totaling seven goals and three assists. He extended his goal streak there to four games by scoring twice on Nov. 1, netting the decisive tally in overtime of a 3-2 victory.

P.A. Parenteau is also looking for another big performance against the Stars after matching his career high with three assists Monday. The right wing has 12 points in nine career meetings, but was kept off the score sheet in Dallas last month.

The Avalanche (22-9-1) matched their season high in scoring after opening 2013-14 with a 6-1 win over Anaheim on Oct. 2 despite going 0 for 5 on the power play. That unit is scoreless on the last 31 chances spanning 11 games.

Still, coach Patrick Roy felt encouraged by the latest effort.

"The power play was really good, to be honest. We had a lot of shots," Roy said. "What else can you do? I don't want to over talk about the power play; we didn't need the power play."

Colorado has won all three season meetings with Dallas.

The Stars (15-12-5) left themselves plenty of room for improvement after getting outshot 21-10 in the opening period before giving up four goals in the second.

"That was pretty much us laying an egg," left wing Jamie Benn said. "They came out strong and jumped all over us."

Benn was held without a point and was a minus-2 Monday, but he may benefit from a return home. He has two goals and nine assists in eight career games there against the Avalanche.

Tyler Seguin has been a rare bright spot against Colorado this season, scoring two goals and setting up three others. He had two points Monday after tallying two goals and two assists in a 6-4 win at Winnipeg two days earlier.

Seguin leads the Stars with 18 goals and 33 points.

Rookie defenseman Kevin Connauton - recalled from Texas of the AHL earlier this month - is looking to build on his first goal in seven career games.

"I was elated," he said. "The elation wore off pretty quick - as quick as it took them to take over in the second period."
