BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Alex Ovechkin capped a four-point night by setting up Mike Green's goal one minute into overtime to give the Washington Capitals a 5-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

Ovechkin had two goals and two assists for his 14th multipoint outing of the season. Green had two goals and an assist and Troy Bouwer also scored in a game the Capitals never trailed but squandered a 2-0 lead. Washington (24-21-8) was coming off a 5-0 win at Montreal on Saturday and won consecutive games since Jan. 9-10.

Cody Hodgson had two goals and Christian Ehrhoff and rookie Phil Varone, with the first of his career, scored for Buffalo. The Sabres (14-31-7) dropped to 1-5-2 in their past seven.
