Golfers to Watch

Steve Stricker (12/1): The semi-retired Stricker is back in action this week, and the scaled-back schedule hasn't seemed to affect him at all this year. He's finished solo second in each of his two stroke-play starts, and made the final eight at the Accenture Match Play. He’s made six starts at Redstone and has finished 11th or better four times.

Hunter Mahan (15/1): The defending champ comes in well-rested after taking two weeks off, and he's been great this year. Along with a runner-up finish at the Accenture Match Play, he's made six stroke-play starts and has finished no worse than 26th.

Chris Kirk (40/1): He's coming off a solid week at Bay Hill (T16) as part of a nice start to 2013 (he already has two top-5's in seven starts). And while Kirk didn't play at Redstone last year, he had one of the best weeks of his career two years ago when he broke 70 in all four rounds en route to a runner-up finish.

Phil Mickelson (15/1): Mickelson missed the cut at Bay Hill last week, though that might have been a blessing in disguise considering he'll get a three-day head start on the top of the Arnold Palmer field. He won at Redstone in 2011 and finished T4 a year ago. While 2013 isn't off to a great start, he does have a win (at February's Phoenix Open) and finished T3 two starts ago at the Cadillac Championship.

Charles Howell III (50/1): Howell has been solid all year, going top-12 in four of his eight stroke-play starts, including a playoff loss at the Humana Challenge. In his last start at Redstone two years ago, he had a pretty good week with the exception of a second-round 75, finishing T19 despite that blip.
