LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS (37-19)

at MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (30-23)

Tip-off: Friday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Los Angeles -2, Total: 196.5

The Grizzlies will try to secure their fourth straight victory on Friday night when they host the Clippers.

Memphis has really played well in 2014, going 17-6 SU and 14-9 ATS over 23 games. The team defense has been relentless recently, allowing just one of its past 17 opponents to score more than 95 points, holding them to an average of 87.8 PPG on 42.2% FG and 32.2% threes. During their current three-game win streak, the Grizzlies have given up a paltry 87.7 PPG on 42.6% FG and 26.6% threes. But for the season, they are a subpar 10-19 ATS at home (35%, 4th-worst in NBA). Los Angeles has won three of its past four games, but is coming off of a 113-103 home loss to the Spurs on Tuesday. Although the Clippers have scored more than 100 points in all seven games this month (113.6 PPG on 50.4% FG), they have also allowed 105+ points in five of the past six contests. L.A. has been a strong road wager though at 17-11 ATS (61%, T-7th in NBA). These teams play completely contrasting styles, but they are no strangers to one another as they have met in the playoffs two years in a row now. The Clippers won the series in seven games the first time they met, but Memphis won last season in six games. Over the past three seasons, L.A. has the overall advantage at 12-10 SU (11-10-1 ATS) with the Grizzlies holding the slight 6-5 SU edge (5-5-1 ATS) at home. However, the road team has prevailed in both of their matchups this season, with Memphis winning 106-102 on Nov. 18 before the Clippers returned the favor on Dec. 5 with a 101-81 blowout victory at FedEx Forum. Los Angeles is 8-0 ATS coming off an upset loss as a favorite this season and is 7-0 ATS on Friday nights. However, Memphis is 31-16 ATS when playing six or less games in 14 days over the past two seasons. Clippers SG J.J. Redick (hip) remains out indefinitely, but SG Willie Green (hip) is expected to play on Friday. For the Grizzlies, SG Tony Allen (wrist) hasn’t played since early January, but has been upgraded to questionable for Friday.

The five StatFox experts have been sizzling with a 62% ATS record (23-14-1) since Feb. 10, making them 53% ATS (148-131-7) since Dec. 1. StatFox Zach has a stellar 59% ATS mark (32-22-3) on Best Bets since Dec. 1 and is 54% ATS (43-36-3) on Best Bets for the season. StatFox Dave has a strong 58% ATS (33-24-1) Best Bets record since Dec. 1 and is 53% ATS (43-38-1) on Best Bets for the season, while StatFox Brian is catching fire, going 75% ATS (15-5-1) since Jan. 25 and 61% ATS (30-19-1) in Best Bets since Dec. 12.

Los Angeles has a high-octane offense that scores 106.9 PPG (2nd in NBA) on 47.2% FG (4th in league) with 24.0 APG (3rd in league). The club keeps turnovers to a minimum (13.4 TOPG, 9th in NBA), but doesn't rebound very well (minus-1.1 RPG margin, 19th in league). This is an average defensive team in terms of scoring (100.9 PPG, 15th in NBA), but still holds teams to 44.4% FG (7th in league) and an NBA-best 32.8% threes. PF Blake Griffin (24.4 PPG, 9.9 RPG) has played at an MVP level recently, averaging 33.9 PPG (59% FG), 11.1 RPG and 4.0 APG in the month of February. In two games against the Grizzlies this season, Griffin is averaging 18.5 PPG and 10.0 RPG. He will need to be ready to play well defensively, as Zach Randolph is a difficult player to defend in the post. C DeAndre Jordan (10.0 PPG, 14.1 RPG) has also had a strong month with 13.4 PPG (73% FG) and 14.1 RPG, and continues to lead the NBA in both rebounding and shooting (66% FG), while ranking fourth in blocks (2.4 BPG). In two games versus the Grizzlies this season, Jordan has 9.0 PPG (7-of-14 FG), 15.0 RPG and 3.0 BPG. PG Chris Paul (19.0 PPG, 11.1 APG) really struggled against the Spurs on Wednesday, finishing with just 11 points (1-of-10 FG) and nine assists in 38 minutes. Paul has been strong against Memphis this season though. In two games against the Grizzlies, he is averaging 16.5 PPG, 9.5 APG and 6.5 RPG. He will need to be a pest defensively to disrupt Memphis from setting up its slow post-offense.

The Grizzlies score a paltry 94.8 PPG (4th-fewest in league), but shoot the ball pretty well, making 45.6% FG (11th in NBA). They also work very hard on the glass with a +2.7 RPG margin (6th in league), which is a big reason the club ranks third in the NBA in scoring defense (94.5 PPG). Memphis holds opponents to a mere 44.8% FG (11th in league) and 34.8% threes (7th in NBA). The most recent game for Memphis came on Tuesday against the Knicks, where the club won 98-93 and outshot New York 49.3% FG to 41.2% FG. SF Mike Miller (6.5 PPG, 2.7 RPG) poured in 19 points (7-of-11 FG, 5-of-7 threes) in 20 minutes in that victory, and his shooting could be a key to this game, as the fast-paced play of Los Angeles could open up the court for some uncontested threes. After missing seven games due to an ankle injury, PG Mike Conley (18.1 PPG, 6.3 APG, 2.7 RPG) returned to the court on Tuesday and he was excellent. Conley played 31 minutes and finished with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists. Against the Clippers this season, Conley is averaging 15.5 PPG (63% FG) and 4.5 APG. He must be more active and play more aggressively as the matchup with Chris Paul will be a major factor in determining which team comes out on top in this one. PF Zach Randolph (17.4 PPG, 10.3 RPG) is averaging 16.0 PPG (50% FG) and 7.4 RPG over the past five contests, and he must be on his game Friday evening as Blake Griffin is going to be a difficult guy to match up with offensively. In two meetings this season, Randolph has averaged a robust 19.0 PPG and 13.5 RPG. C Marc Gasol (13.0 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.1 BPG) is slowly working his way back from a knee injury, but has played well in his limited duty in the past two games, scoring 12 points (6-of-12 FG), 12 rebounds and five assists in 49 minutes combined. Gasol was a big reason his team was able to win in Los Angeles on Nov. 18, as he scored 23 points with nine rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
