BROOKLYN NETS (42-34)

at MIAMI HEAT (53-23)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 8:00 p.m. ET
Line: Miami -7, Total: 190

The Nets look to win their third straight game on Tuesday, but are a big underdog as they visit the Heat.

Brooklyn has won two straight games and five of its past six contests. Fresh off of a 105-101 road victory over the 76ers on Saturday, Brooklyn has been the hottest team in the league since the start of the new year. However, Miami's 102-91 defeat of New York on Sunday gives the club five wins in the past six games. In three meetings this season, the Nets have come away with a win-and-cover against the Heat. However, Miami is 3-1 (SU and ATS) when playing Brooklyn at home over the past three seasons. All four of those games happened to go Under the total. The Nets are 9-5 ATS this season after a division game, and are also 20-12 ATS in the second half of the season. However, over the past three seasons, the Heat have gone 35-17 ATS when revenging a same season loss against an opponent. Miami is also playing with extra motivation as it tries to secure the top spot in the Eastern Conference. While the Nets have no significant injuries, SG Dwyane Wade (hamstring), C Greg Oden (back) and PF Chris Andersen (back) are all questionable for the Heat for this matchup.

StatFox Zach is a stellar 65% ATS (13-7) since March 9, while StatFox Gary has remained hot with a 57% ATS mark (20-15) since Feb. 13, while StatFox Dave has a strong 55% ATS (49-40-2) Best Bets record since Dec. 1.

Brooklyn has been playing some excellent basketball as of late, but SF Paul Pierce (13.5 PPG) is going to be the guy to set the tone against the Heat. Pierce is averaging 23.7 PPG against Miami in the three meetings between the teams this season, and during his team's current two-game win streak, Pierce is averaging 14.0 PPG. PF Kevin Garnett (6.8 PPG, 6.6 RPG) returned Saturday from a long absence in which he was dealing with back issues, scoring 10 points and four rebounds in just 13 minutes in the win over Philadelphia. PG Deron Williams (14.5 PPG, 6.3 APG) had 19 points and nine assists in 33 minutes against the 76ers. He looked really sharp in the game, but he must get himself on track against the Heat. In two meetings against Miami this season, Williams is averaging just 7.0 PPG and 8.0 APG. SG Joe Johnson (15.6 PPG) has been superb against the Heat, however. In three games against Miami, Johnson is averaging 19.7 PPG on 51% FG. If Dwyane Wade does not play due to his hamstring injury, Johnson should be able to really take over the game for Brooklyn.

The Heat are coming off a big victory over the Knicks behind the play of SF LeBron James (26.8 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 6.5 APG). James had 38 points (13-of-22 FG), six assists and five rebounds in 43 minutes against the Knicks. James is averaging 27.0 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 6.0 APG in three games against the Nets this season. SG Dwyane Wade (19.2 PPG, 4.8 APG, 4.6 RPG) has missed the past six games for Miami due to a bad hammy, and is questionable for this one. If Wade plays, a lot of the pressure will be taken off of his teammates. SG Ray Allen (9.7 PPG) will need to be prepared to play big minutes in this one in case Wade doesn’t play. He is averaging 11.0 PPG over the past two contests. PF Chris Bosh (16.5 PPG, 6.7 RPG) is averaging 17.0 PPG and 7.0 RPG in three games against the Nets this season. Bosh’s midrange jumper will be much needed in order to stretch the floor and open the lane for James and Wade, if he plays. PG Mario Chalmers (9.8 PPG, 5.0 APG) has been on fire for Miami in the past four games, averaging 16.3 PPG (57% FG), 4.3 RPG and 4.3 APG. If he can keep up his defense on Deron Williams that he has displayed in recent meetings, the Heat will be in good shape come the end of the game.
