NEW ORLEANS PELICANS (5-4)

at SACRAMENTO KINGS (6-4)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 10:05 p.m. ET
Line: Sacramento -3, Total: 200.5

The Pelicans continue a difficult West Coast swing on Tuesday night when they face the Kings.

Here is the BetDSI Sportsbook season betting preview for the New Orleans Pelicans:

New Orleans opened its four-game road trip on Monday in Portland, where it fell 102-93 after being outscored 34-13 in the final quarter. That dropped the Pelicans' road record to 1-3 (SU and ATS). Sacramento lost the final three games of its road trip completed last Thursday, but bounced back with a 94-91 home win on Saturday versus the NBA champion Spurs. That gave the Kings three straight victories (SU and ATS) at home. Speaking of winning at home, Sacramento has been a rude host to the Pelicans over the years, going 19-6 SU (19-5-1 ATS) since 1996, but New Orleans did prevail 113-100 at Sleep Train Arena last season. However, the Kings then won the final three meetings by an average margin of 9.7 PPG. New Orleans is a dreadful 3-13 ATS versus poor passing teams (20+ APG) over the past two seasons, but Sacramento is a mere 8-19 ATS at home after an SU win in the past three seasons. Both teams are healthy for this matchup with the one exception being Pelicans C Omer Asik, who is questionable with a back injury.

New Orleans has been great offensively this season with 104.2 PPG (8th in NBA) on 46.6% FG (7th in league), while the defense has been average in allowing 98.8 PPG (17th in NBA) on 44.9% FG (14th in league). C Anthony Davis has been incredible on both ends of the court with 25.2 PPG and 11.7 RPG (both 3rd-best in NBA) on offense and an NBA-leading 4.0 BPG and 2.3 SPG (tied with John Wall for league lead) on the defensive end. The third-year pro shot poorly in last year's series with the Kings (35% FG), but still averaged 18.0 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.0 BPG and 1.3 SPG. Davis hasn't done it alone, as three teammates are averaging more than 15.0 PPG. PG Jrue Holiday (16.0 PPG, 6.3 APG, 1.6 SPG) has scored in double-figures in eight straight games, but is coming off a season-low two assists on Monday. Swingman Tyreke Evans (15.9 PPG, 7.2 APG, 6.6 RPG) has an impressive 46% clip from three-point range this season, but has made only 36% from inside the arc. Evans had no trouble finding open looks versus the Pelicans last season when he averaged 21.0 PPG on 48% FG and 87% FT, while also adding 6.8 APG, 5.3 RPG and 1.5 SPG. PF Ryan Anderson (15.8 PPG, 5.6 RPG) has found his stroke in the past two road games with 22.0 PPG on 53% FG (10-of-18 threes). He has made 40% of his threes (23-of-57) in 10 career meetings with the Kings.

Sacramento may be last in the NBA in assists (17.7 APG), but it is still scoring a respectable 102.8 PPG on 44.2% FG. These numbers would be much higher if the Kings could knock down some long-range jumpers, as their 29.8% three-point FG clip ranks second worse in the NBA. This team has also improved its defense, allowing 103.4 PPG, which is better than last season's 104.5 PPG allowed. Sacramento has only three double-digit scorers on the team, led by SF Rudy Gay (22.5 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.5 APG). He has scored more than 10 points in every game this season, and has been especially potent during his team's three-game home win streak with 29.0 PPG on 57% FG (6-of-10 threes). Gay has also shot well in his career versus New Orleans with 19.3 PPG on 47% FG (44% threes) with 4.9 RPG in 27 career meetings. The other big scorer for the Kings is C DeMarcus Cousins (22.4 PPG, 11.1 RPG, 1.4 BPG) who has seven double-doubles this season, including three in a row. He dropped 25 points and 10 boards in the win over San Antonio and was even better versus the Pelicans last season with 25.0 PPG (55% FG), 12.8 RPG and 2.0 BPG. New PG Darren Collison (15.8 PPG, 6.0 APG, 3.6 RPG, 1.9 SPG) has enjoyed his first season with the Kings, tallying career highs in both points and assists. Collison has 39 points (13-of-24 FG) and 10 assists in two games since returning to action after a shoulder injury.
