GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (10-2)

at MIAMI HEAT (8-6)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 7:35 p.m. ET
Line: Golden State -5, Total: 198

The Warriors attempt to push their current winning streak to six games on Tuesday night when they head to South Beach to take on the Heat, who could be without Dwyane Wade (hamstring injury).

Golden State has come out swinging this season and won its past five games SU (3-2 ATS) while shooting 50% or better from the field in six of 12 contests so far. The Warriors have averaged 109.4 PPG during their current winning streak, but actually let their defense earn a win for them in their last game when they defeated the Thunder by a score of 91-86 as 8-point favorites on the road. It was the first of five straight games on a trip east, as the team shot a meager 35.5% from the floor, but turned the ball over a season-low nine times. Miami has certainly not been the same since LeBron James left, but it has been resilient in winning three of the past four games (3-1 ATS). The Heat have connected on 50% or more of their shots in each of the past two games while just sneaking out a win against the Bobcats on Sunday. The game was a pick 'em, and was played like one, as the Heat pulled out a 94-93 win while hitting 33-of-66 shots. Some high scoring battles ensued last season when these two teams met, as the average total between them was 229 points while the away team won SU each time. In the most recent contest, Miami edged its opponent 111-110 as a 1-point favorite in a game where both teams shot better than 48% FG, but it was the Heat's 11-for-22 shooting from long range that eventually did the Warriors in. Trends show that Golden State is 9-1 ATS (90%) after two straight games where it was called for 18 or less fouls in the past three seasons while Miami has gone 17-7 ATS (71%) after three straight games of forcing opponents to commit 14 or less turnovers in the same timeframe. PF David Lee (hamstring) will continue to miss time while SG Leandro Barbosa (knee) and C Andrew Bogut (eye) are considered questionable after coming out of the previous contest. The Heat are also dealing with some injuries to key players other than Wade, as PG Norris Cole (finger) and PF Chris Andersen (ankle) are both doubtful to play on Tuesday.

Golden State’s offense has been one of the best in the league so far as it is averaging 106.5 PPG (3rd in league) while hitting on a tremendous 48.5% FG (2nd in league). The Warriors have not just done well on the offensive side of things though, as their defense has allowed only 96.4 PPG (9th in league) while holding opponents to a league low 41% shooting. PG Stephen Curry (22.6 PPG, 7.8 APG, 5.5 RPG, 2.2 SPG) has quickly evolved into an elite NBA player, but has averaged a mere 11.5 PPG on 33% shooting with 8.0 APG and 5.5 RPG over his past two contests. He has also slowed down on the steals with just five takeaways in the past six games after having 21 steals in the first six. He’s averaged 19.3 PPG (49% FG) with 7.3 APG while going 20-for-37 (54%) from behind the arc over six career meetings with the Heat. SG Klay Thompson (22.4 PPG, 43% threes, 1.2 SPG) has tallied 20+ points in three of his past five games and has made a total of 15 three-pointers in that time. In his five career meetings (4 starts) with this Miami team, Thompson has made 11-of-33 threes (33%) while scoring 13.2 PPG (41% FG). SF Draymond Green (12.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 1.0 SPG) has developed a solid all-around game but scored only 10 points (3-of-11 FG) on Sunday while filling up the stat sheet in other areas with nine rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal. In his two games (1 start) against the Heat last season he put up 6.0 PPG (42% FG), 7.5 RPG, 3.0 SPG and 2.0 BPG.

Miami runs a much slower pace of offense than its Tuesday opponent, and scores a mere 97.0 PPG (11th-lowest in league) despite shooting an efficient 47% from the field (5th in league). Part of the reason that the Heat are over .500 is because of solid defensive play as they are allowing opponents to score 96.4 PPG (10th in league) while making 46.5% of their field goals. C Chris Bosh (21.4 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 1.1 SPG) has relished his new role as the top option in the offense and is coming off a three-game stretch in which he averaged 26.7 PPG while having two straight double-doubles. He’s nearly averaged a double-double (20.9 PPG, 9.7 RPG) in his 18 starts against the Warriors while also getting better than one steal (1.3) and one block (1.2) per game. SF Luol Deng (14.7 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.2 SPG) will need to chip in more on offense with Wade most likely out, and he did just that last time out with 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting while adding eight rebounds. Deng has taken on Golden State 14 times (11 starts) in his career and scored 15.8 PPG (48% FG) with 6.6 RPG. PG Mario Chalmers (14.6 PPG, 4.9 APG, 1.5 SPG) has been tremendous over the team’s past three victories, going for 22.0 PPG, 7.7 APG and 1.3 SPG. He started both games against the Warriors last season and finished with 14.5 PPG (53% FG), 5.0 APG, 4.0 RPG and 2.5 SPG.
