Although baseball seems eternities away, the league is still going strong with a plentiful free agent market that is slowly being sorted out. Now is the time to gain inside knowledge on who is going where and get great odds on underdogs before things change. Let’s take a look a few teams who could contend for the World Series in 2015.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS (7/1)
Of the top teams from last season, the Nationals have the best chance of improving simply based on the fact that their team is young and has superstars ready to explode. OF Bryce Harper and 3B Anthony Rendon should provide a core for this club that keeps them in contention every year while 1B Ryan Zimmerman is expected to come back healthy and man the first base position. He will join other veterans such as OF Jayson Werth, OF Denard Span and SS Ian Desmond at the top of what should be a potent offensive lineup. The scary thing is that’s not the best part of Washington's team, as each pitcher in its rotation has the ability to be in Cy Young contention when all is said and done, with SP Doug Fister being the only one over the age of 30. Top prospect SP Lucas Giolito is also making his way through the system, and the team has plenty of depth at other positions in the high minors that should allow them to trade for anything that they need. The build-up for this team has taken a few years, but the Nationals are poised to finally grab a title.

SEATTLE MARINERS (16/1)
Seattle made plenty of noise last year with its addition of 2B Robinson Cano, but it is the club's own homegrown players that will propel this team to the next level. 3B Kyle Seager, OF Dustin Ackley, C Mike Zunino and SS Brad Miller all were drafted by the team in the past three seasons and should be important contributors alongside Cano and OF Austin Jackson. The Mariners rotation will always be great with Cy Young runner-up SP Felix Hernandez, who is joined by more former Seattle draft picks in SPs Taijuan Walker and James Paxton. No. 2 SP Hisashi Iwakuma has solidified himself as one of the top pitchers in the league. The perennial winners of this division, the Angels and Athletics, still have some solid teams, but the Mariners have the perfect all-around team to overcome them and the division. They also have two starters who can keep them in a series against any team in the playoffs.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (18/1)
These are pretty great odds for a team that always seems to be in it no matter what they do in the offseason. The Cardinals offense should be set with staples like 3B Matt Carpenter and OF Matt Holliday manning the middle of the order while newcomer OF Jason Heyward will join 2B Kolten Wong and 1B Matt Adams as the youthful presence at the top of the lineup. Any time that SP Adam Wainwright is your ace you have a chance, and St. Louis adds a nice mix of established veterans (SPs Lance Lynn and John Lackey) and high-ceiling youngsters (SPs Michael Wacha and Marco Gonzales). The NL Central has a ton of talent, but the Cardinals are still one of the best organizations in the majors, and should be able to continue their dominance of the division with a chance for more in October.

NEW YORK METS (30/1)
The Mets are one of the clubs that is on the cusp of being great and it all rides on whether or not some breakout performances from last season were the real deal. SP Jacob deGrom, 2B Daniel Murphy and 1B Lucas Duda all came out of nowhere to put up some gaudy numbers and could soon be joined by some other emerging players in C Travis d’Arnaud, SS Wilmer Flores and SP Noah Syndergaard. The offense is rounded out nicely by a trio of talented veterans in 3B David Wright, OF Curtis Granderson and OF Michael Cuddyer while the rotation is deep enough with names like SPs Bartolo Colon, Jon Niese and Dillon Gee to trade for any midseason needs. To cap things off, the team will get back stud SP Matt Harvey who is 18 months removed from Tommy John surgery. Harvey joins fellow youngster SP Zack Wheeler in one of the most high-upside rotations in baseball. Expect the Amazin’ Mets to make some ripples in the NL East this summer and possibly sneak into a Wild Card spot.

CINCINNATI REDS (35/1)
The public is down on the Reds after a horrendous 2014 campaign, but the return of a healthy 1B Joey Votto could do wonders for a team that has huge offensive potential in both power and speed. OF Billy Hamilton should improve his hitting and is a threat to steal every time on base, while the emergence of 3B Todd Frazier should only improve with Votto in the lineup. Also, expect both veteran OF Jay Bruce and 2B Brandon Phillips to bounce back after poor showings last season. The rotation is underrated, as the top four hurlers are under the age of 30 while both SPs Johnny Cueto and Mat Latos posses the skills to be elite. There are many teams in the NL Central with the chance of winning, but the Reds could certainly come flying back from under the radar after such a subpar year and make it to the playoffs.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS (35/1)
Toronto quietly had a solid season in 2014 as they finished four games over .500 and had a run differential of +37. The addition of C Russell Martin should help out some of their young and talented starters like SPs Marcus Stroman, Drew Hutchison and Aaron Sanchez, while 1B Edwin Encarnacion and OF Jose Bautista continue to be one of the best one-two power combos in baseball. Veteran SPs R.A. Dickey and Mark Buehrle solidify the rotation and would keep the Jays in any playoff series. The AL East is not what it once is, and a team like Toronto can sneak right to the top with a few acquisitions and breakout years from players like 3B Brett Lawrie or OF Dalton Pompey.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS (60/1)
The Brew Crew was in the playoff hunt nearly the entire 2014 season, and it was no fluke as they have put together a solid core of youngsters and veterans that should be able to compete on a nightly basis. The emergence of C Jonathan Lucroy as a top-five hitting catcher gives them great depth on offense, while the trio of OFs Ryan Braun, Carlos Gomez and Khris Davis could be one of the best outfields in the league. If SS Jean Segura can bounce back from a dismal 2014, this offense could rank as one of the five best in baseball. Their rotation does not have a huge ceiling, but is dependable with SPs Yovani Gallardo, Matt Garza and Kyle Lohse leading the way, while young SPs Wily Peralta and Mike Fiers have a chance to make this group special. As mentioned previously, the National League Central is probably the deepest in baseball, and will be tough to navigate. But if it all clicks for this Brewers club, they could be on the top and looking towards a World Series run.

MIAMI MARLINS (70/1)
This is going to be a fun team to watch, and if you like to take the underdog, this is the club to pick. The Marlins have an offense that could rival any other team, which is led by the $325 million man, OF Giancarlo Stanton. OFs Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna join Stanton to create an outfield with some of the highest upside that the league has seen in a while. The trio should combine to hit close to 100 homers. The front office has done a nice job putting together a rotation of youngsters with SPs Jarred Cosart, Henderson Alvarez, Tom Koehler and Nathan Eovaldi who should all continue to improve, while SP Andrew Heaney is a Rookie of the Year leading candidate. Superstar SP Jose Fernandez should return sometime this summer, and kick the team’s play to the next level. These Fish could be this season’s version of the Royals and could be a huge payout for bettors.
