DALLAS MAVERICKS (16-6)

at MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (16-4)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Memphis -3, Total: 205

Two of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Mavericks and Grizzlies, square off on Tuesday night at FedEx Forum.

Dallas has put together what is arguably one of the best offensive teams in the NBA this season, and has ridden that offense to wins in six of the past seven games. The Mavs have gone over 105 points in each of those contests while shooting better than 45% from the floor five times. They have needed to win shootouts with their defense not performing too well, as they have allowed at least 100 points in each of their past eight contests. The team was on fire in their last game on Sunday when they took on the Bucks and came away with a big 125-102 victory as 9-point favorites at home. Their shooters hit an incredible 58.3% FG in the game while turning the ball over just 11 times. The Grizzlies have been on an absolute tear this season, but have dropped two of their past three games. Their losses came at the hands of San Antonio and Houston in back-to-back games, but they rebounded on Sunday with an impressive 103-87 win as 8-point favorites at home against the Heat. They shot 59% from the field in the victory and that was the fifth time in the past 10 games that they have shot better than 50% from the floor. The team was efficient from long range (8-for-13) while dishing out 24 assists to overpower Miami. These two clubs have split their past eight games over the past three seasons SU while the Mavericks are a dominant 6-1-1 ATS in that time. Dallas won 3-of-4 games SU (4-0 ATS) in this series last season, while being one of the few teams to have offensive success against a stout Memphis defense, as they scored 107.8 PPG against them. Some trends to keep an eye on include that the Mavericks are 24-9 ATS (73%) as a road underdog over the past two seasons while the Grizzlies are 16-5 ATS (76%) after scoring 100+ points for two straight games over the past three seasons. Each team has performed so well partly because of their ability to stay healthy, as both clubs have no significant injuries.

As mentioned previously, Dallas has one of the best offenses in the NBA with a league-best 110.6 PPG while shooting 48.1% from the floor (2nd in NBA). The Mavs have scored 100+ points in 14 of their past 15 games and have gone over 125 points five times. The defense has not performed quite as well in the high-paced games, as it is allowing opponents to score 102.5 PPG (7th in league) on 45.7% shooting. PF Dirk Nowitzki (19.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG) is not the dominant force that he once was, but has still managed to score 20+ points in three of his past five games played. He was tremendous against Memphis in four meetings last season with 25.0 PPG (57% FG) and 5.8 RPG. SG Monta Ellis (21.1 PPG, 4.6 APG, 1.5 SPG) has taken over the duties as the team’s top offensive option and has put up 30 or more points in three of his past six games. Over his career (28 games, 25 starts) against the Grizzlies, he has netted 18.7 PPG (45% FG) while dishing out 4.5 APG and grabbing 4.1 RPG. C Tyson Chandler (11.3 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 1.5 BPG) has rejuvenated his career with his return to the Mavs and has grabbed 13+ boards in four of the past five games while having 11 double-doubles on the season. Another addition to the team was SF Chandler Parsons (15.5 PPG, 5.1 RPG) who has provided a nice spark while coming off a solid performance in the win over Milwaukee with 28 points and five boards.

The Grizzlies have been a solid offensive unit this season with 100.4 PPG and are shooting the ball with great efficiency (47.2% FG, 5th in league). They are once again the NBA's top performing defense by giving up a only 93.5 PPG to their opponents while holding them to a mere 43.9% FG (7th in league) as they force 15.4 turnovers per game (11th in league). C Marc Gasol (19.0 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 1.6 BPG) is one of the best all-around centers in the game and has tallied five or more assists in three of his past five contests. He was solid against the Mavericks over three games last season while averaging 18.0 PPG (61% FG), 6.0 RPG, 5.0 APG and 1.3 SPG. PG Mike Conley (16.7 PPG, 6.3 APG, 1.2 SPG) has hit 20-of-32 shots (63% FG) over the first three games of this month and connected on all eight of his attempts when he went for 18 points and two assists against the Heat. Over 24 career games (20 starts) against Dallas, Conley has managed to score 12.1 PPG (41% FG) while getting 4.9 APG and 1.5 SPG. PF Zach Randolph (15.6 PPG, 11.0 RPG) has not posted a double-double in any of his past three games, but has 11 total on the year. He was great in his four games against the Mavericks in the 2013-14 season, going for 21.8 PPG (48% FG) and 11.5 RPG.
