GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (31-5)

at OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (18-20)

Tip-off: Friday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Golden State -2, Total: 215.5

The Warriors go for their ninth straight victory when they visit the slumping Thunder on Friday night.

Golden State hosted the Heat on Wednesday and beat them 104-89 as a 15-point home favorite, making the club 8-0 SU (6-1-1 ATS) since a Christmas Day loss. Oklahoma City is coming off a 112-101 defeat as a 3-point road underdog in Houston on Thursday, marking its third SU loss in the past four games and seventh consecutive ATS defeat. The Thunder have now lost three of their past four games and have failed to cover the spread in seven straight contests. These teams have met three times this season, and the Warriors have won all of the meetings SU while covering in the past two. However, Oklahoma City is 4-1 (SU and ATS) when hosting in this series over the past three seasons, with four of those five games finishing Over the total. This season, the Warriors are 22-7 ATS as a favorite and 14-2 ATS off a home win. They are also 22-6 ATS after an SU victory this season. The Thunder are 87-52 ATS after having lost two of their previous three games since 1996, but are just 1-8 ATS this season when the line is +3 to -3.

The Warriors are one of the hottest teams in basketball and PG Stephen Curry (23.3 PPG, 8.0 APG, 4.9 RPG, 2.1 SPG) is playing some of his best ball of the season over the past few weeks. Curry had 32 points in 32 minutes in a win over the Heat on Wednesday and he’s now averaging 24.4 PPG, 9.0 APG and 4.0 RPG over the past five games. Curry will need to come ready to play defensively in this one, as he’ll be faced with the tough task of checking Russell Westbrook. But Curry has been outstanding in the season series so far, lighting up Oklahoma City for 22.7 PPG (49% FG), 7.3 RPG, 7.0 APG and 3.0 SPG in the three meetings. SG Klay Thompson (21.3 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 3.0 APG) has continued to score effectively for Golden State, averaging 22.8 PPG over the past five games. Thompson will need to shoot well in this game, as there’s always a chance that Curry could find himself in foul trouble because of his matchup with Westbrook. Thompson is averaging 19.3 PPG (40% FG), 4.3 RPG and 3.3 APG versus the Thunder this season. SF Draymond Green (11.8 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.5 BPG, 1.5 SPG) has been one of the Warriors’ most consistent players this season. Although he is coming off a subpar game against Miami (6 points in 25 minutes), he should be able to get himself back on track in this game against a team that he has averaged an impressive 12.3 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 6.7 APG and 2.0 BPG against this season. C Andrew Bogut (6.8 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 1.9 BPG) has provided this team with the defensive presence it was missing when he went down with a knee injury a few weeks back. Golden State is truly an elite team with him on the floor.

The Thunder re really struggling as of late and they were unable to pick up a big victory in Houston on Thursday night. Oklahoma City had five nights to prepare for that game, but still came out with a lousy performance. SF Kevin Durant (24.9 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 3.4 APG) was one of the only players on this team to show up, as he had 24 points (8-of-12 FG), 10 rebounds and three blocks in 40 minutes. He’ll need to bring that same energy against Golden State, which has held Durant to 22.0 PPG (45% FG), 6.0 RPG and 2.5 APG in two meetings this season. PG Russell Westbrook (25.8 PPG, 7.1 APG, 5.7 RPG) had 16 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals in the loss to Houston, but also committed eight turnovers. If Westbrook does not take care of the ball, the Warriors will make them pay with their ability to put up points in a hurry. He also needs to shoot better than the 31% FG clip he's produced in the season series, but Westbrook has still averaged 27.5 PPG, 6.5 APG, 5.0 RPG and 1.5 SPG in the two meetings with the Warriors. PF Serge Ibaka (14.2 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.3 BPG) will need to be a force defensively in this game. Golden State has a number of players that can finish around the basket, so rim protection from Ibaka will be extremely valuable for the Thunder. SG Dion Waiters (10.6 PPG) is averaging 15.5 PPG over his past two games and will continue to be a scoring threat off the bench, but he must play solid defense if he is going to help his team beat the Warriors.
