GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS (12-0)

at LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS (6-4)

Tip-off: Thursday, 10:35 p.m. ET
Line: Los Angeles -6.5, Total: 213

The undefeated Warriors could face their toughest test of the season on Thursday night when they visit the high-flying Clippers.

Golden State (7-5 ATS) has opened the year with a dozen straight wins by a hefty scoring margin of 15.4 PPG. But the closest victory during the streak came on Nov. 4 versus these same Clippers, who battled to a narrow 112-108 defeat. Los Angeles (4-6 ATS) has had an up-and-down season, but has been pretty tough at home with a 5-1 SU record, and has fresh legs having not played since Saturday when it topped Detroit 101-96. The Warriors won three of four meetings in this series last year, including a 110-106 victory at Staples Center on March 31. But in the previous game in that building, the Clippers rolled to a 100-86 victory and are 6-2 SU (5-3 ATS) at home in this series since 2013-14. Bettors expecting another sizable Warriors win can point to the fact that road favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points with a +3 PPG margin are 123-60 ATS (67%) after scoring 105+ points in three straight games since 1996. However, the Clippers fall in the class of underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points revenging a loss where an opponent scored 100+ PPG going 49-21 ATS (70%) with 3+ days' rest. The bad news for L.A. is that both PG Chris Paul (groin) and SG J.J. Redick (back) are doubtful to play, while Golden State's only questionable player is PG Shaun Livingston (hip).

Golden State's perfect record is no fluke, as the team has been flourishing in all categories. Overall, the club is scoring 114.2 PPG on 48.1% FG, 40.1% threes and 76.1% FT, and has been even more potent on the road with 115.6 PPG on 48.7% FG, 39.4% threes and 76.9% FT. PG Stephen Curry has been even better than his MVP campaign last season with 33.7 PPG (52% FG), 5.9 APG, 4.8 RPG and 2.4 SPG. He dropped 31 points (7-of-11 threes) in 33 minutes in the Nov. 4 win versus L.A. and added five boards and four assists for good measure. His backcourt mate, SG Klay Thompson, also stuffed the stat sheet that night with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Although his current 15.5 PPG average is below his career mark of 17.4 PPG, Thompson is coming off a 19-point effort on Tuesday versus Toronto. The starting frontcourt of do-it-all PF Draymond Green (12.0 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 6.9 APG, 1.4 BPG, 1.4 SPG), SF Harrison Barnes (12.9 PPG, 47% FG, 4.8 RPG) and C Festus Ezeli (8.7 PPG, 58% FG, 5.8 RPG, 1.7 BPG) have all had strong years, and all scored at least 10 points in the win over L.A. earlier this month. The Warriors defense has also been outstanding this season in limiting teams to a mere 98.8 PPG on 42.3% FG and a pitiful 27.8% threes, and will not have to contend with injured superstar PG Chris Paul on Thursday night.

Los Angeles has been missing plenty of top scoring options throughout the season due to injuries, but is still averaging a beefy 105.1 PPG on 46.5% FG. However, the team has been continually misfiring from long distance (31.0% threes) and from the foul line (70.4% FT). With PG Chris Paul (15.7 PPG, 8.0 APG, 3.6 RPG, 1.3 SPG) and SG J.J. Redick (14.8 PPG, 53% FG) both expected to be sidelined, the Clippers will be without a starting backcourt that combined for 37 points, 12 assists, three steals and only three turnovers in the narrow loss to Golden State. But Los Angeles also got nice showings that game from frontcourt stars PF Blake Griffin (26.6 PPG, 56% FG, 9.0 RPG, 4.3 APG) and C DeAndre Jordan (10.1 PPG, 71% FG, 12.0 RPG, 3.0 BPG) who each produced a double-double. SG Jamal Crawford (13.6 PPG) made only 4-of-15 shots in Oakland as part of his inaccurate shooting all season with 40.2% FG and 28.1% threes. However, he is coming off a monster performance on Saturday where he poured in 37 points (12-of-27 FG, 3-of-7 threes, 10-of-10 FT) with eight assists and six rebounds. Crawford is expected to attempt another 25+ shots on Thursday with Paul and Redick not playing. Although the Clippers are not a real stingy defense with 104.2 PPG allowed on 44.2% FG and 33.2% threes, those numbers improve greatly in Staples Center at 98.3 PPG allowed on 41.0% FG and 25.3% threes.
