LOUISVILLE CARDINALS (23-7, 12-5 ACC)

at VIRGINIA CAVALIERS (23-6, 12-5 ACC)

John Paul Jones Arena – Charlottesville, VA
Tip-off: Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET
Line: Virginia -6, Total: 125.5

No. 4 Virginia tries to wrap up its regular season on a high note Saturday night when No. 11 Louisville pays a visit to Charlottesville.

Both schools have identical 12-5 records in the ACC this season, which puts them one game behind conference leaders Miami and North Carolina. The Cardinals (12-13 ATS overall) enter this contest with four wins in their past five games, but are only 2-4-1 ATS in their past seven contests, and have dropped three of their past four road games (SU and ATS). The Cavaliers (14-13 ATS overall) have been a great wager recently at 6-1 ATS in their past seven contests. They are also a perfect 14-0 SU at home this season, but are just 7-5 ATS at John Paul Jones Arena. Virginia has won two of the three meetings between these schools in ACC play while Louisville holds the 2-1 ATS advantage in the series. Last season, both teams won tight defensive-minded games at home (UVa 52-47, UL 59-57), but the Jan. 30 meeting this season was a 63-47 Cavaliers road romp, as they out-shot the host Cardinals 58% to 33% from the field. Both schools have plenty of positive betting trends on Saturday, as Louisville is 17-6 ATS under head coach Rick Pitino after two straight games where the opponent was called for 15 or less fouls, and the school is also 52-30 ATS on the road after a 4-1 SU stretch since 1997. Virginia has dominated top-notch teams all season, going 8-1 ATS with a +11.7 PPG margin when facing a team with a scoring margin of 12+ PPG. The school is also 29-13 ATS on the heels of committing eight or less turnovers in the past three seasons. There are no new injuries for either team in this one.

StatFox Brian has been on fire for nearly three months with a stellar 63% ATS record (34-20-1) in the past 11 weeks. StatFox Gary is also sizzling, going 66% ATS (29-15-1) over the past nine weeks. StatFox Scott is heating up too, evidenced by a 60% ATS (12-8) record in Best Bets over the past four weeks.

Louisville ranks third in the nation in scoring margin at +15.0 PPG, as its offense puts up 75.9 PPG on 48% FG (32nd in D-I) and 35% threes, while the elite defense allows only 60.9 PPG (6th in nation) on 39% FG (10th in D-I) and 32% threes (46th in nation). This team is relentless on the glass with its +7.1 RPG margin (62nd in D-I) and 13.4 offensive RPG (20th in nation), and forces many more turnovers (14.4 TOPG) than it commits (11.5 TOPG). The biggest weakness for the team is foul shooting (69% FT, 199th in D-I), but that number has been slightly better on the road at 70%. Louisville has three main scorers that pace the offense in G Damion Lee (16.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.6 SPG), G Trey Lewis (11.4 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 2.3 APG) and C Chinanu Onuaku (10.0 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.0 BPG). The senior Lee has scored at least 10 points in all but three games this season, and one of those was the loss to Virginia when he netted just six points on 2-of-7 FG and 0-for-4 threes. Lee has also been in a shooting funk in his past three contests with 11.0 PPG on 11-of-36 shooting (1-of-11 threes). Lewis, who is also senior transfer, has also been struggling recently with 6.0 PPG on 10-of-34 FG and 2-of-14 threes in his past four games. The Cavaliers also gave him fits in that Jan. 30 blowout, limiting Lewis to a mere four points on 1-of-6 shooting. The 6-foot-10 Onuaku is the hottest scorer on the team with five straight games of 10+ points, including a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds on Tuesday versus Georgia Tech. But he will have to stay out of foul trouble to keep his team in the game, as he recorded just one point and zero rebounds in 19 minutes versus Virginia before fouling out. The Cardinals' top scorers in that Jan. 30 loss to the Cavaliers were freshman forwards Deng Adel (4.1 PPG) and Raymond Spalding (5.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG), who both came off the bench to score 12 points that day.

Virginia's offense plays at a deliberate pace that leads to just 70.8 PPG (237th in nation), but the team rarely takes a bad shot, evidenced by its impressive 49% FG (13th in D-I) and 41% threes (10th in nation). Offensive miscues are rarely a problem with this cerebral squad that commits only 9.3 TOPG (5th-fewest in D-I) and has a stellar 1.6 Ast/TO ratio (7th in nation). Although this is a strong rebounding team at +3.5 RPG (68th in D-I), it rarely crashes the offensive glass with only 8.9 offensive RPG (305th in nation). Like Louisville, the Cavaliers are an elite defensive unit that holds opponents to 60.1 PPG (3rd in nation) on 42% FG (97th in D-I), but they do allow 35% threes (227th in nation). Two seniors, who will be playing their final home game on Saturday, have a lot to do with the efficiency of this offense -- G Malcolm Brogdon (18.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.8 APG) and F Anthony Gill (13.5 PPG, 6.2 RPG). Brogdon shoots well from all over the court at 48% FG, 42% threes and 88% FT, while Gill usually works close to the basket with a 55% FG clip (2nd in ACC). Brogdon has scored in double-figures in 28 straight games, and has recorded at least 18 points in each of his past five contests. Gill has pulled down 29 rebounds in his past three games, which included a double-double of 11 points and 10 boards in Tuesday's win at Clemson. Both seniors scored 13 points in the Jan. 30 win at Louisville. The only other double-digit scorer on the team is junior PG London Perrantes (11.3 PPG, 4.4 APG, 1.1 SPG), who has at least eight points in five straight games including 13 on Tuesday. Perrantes, whose 2.4 Ast/TO ratio ranks eighth in the conference, had a strong game versus Louisville on Jan. 30 with nine points and five assists.
