The Warriors will be looking to tie the record for wins in a season when they face the Spurs in San Antonio on Sunday.

Golden State is coming off of a very tough game in Memphis, but the team was able to come away with a 100-99 victory as a 13-point favorite. The Warriors now need just two more victories in order to break the record for wins in a season, but it’s not going to be easy. The last time these teams met in San Antonio, the Spurs won 87-79 as five-point home favorites. The Warriors did, however, win 112-101 when these teams met at Oracle Arena on Apr. 7. San Antonio has gotten the best of this head-to-head series over the years, though. The Spurs are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS when facing the Warriors over the past three seasons and that includes a 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS record when playing at home in that span. Golden State is 10-1 ATS in road games after a close win by three points or less over the past three seasons. San Antonio, meanwhile, is 12-2 ATS revenging a loss by 10 points or more versus an opponent over the past two seasons. Both teams are expected to play their starters in this one, but PF Boris Diaw (Groin) is doubtful for the Spurs.

If the Warriors are going to get their 72nd win then PG Stephen Curry (29.8 PPG, 6.7 APG, 5.5 RPG, 2.1 SPG) is going to need to get it going against the Spurs. Curry was miserable on Saturday night, finishing with just 17 points on 7-for-22 shooting from the field and 3-for-14 shooting from the outside. He did, however, have 27 points and nine assists when he faced the Spurs on Thursday. He was 11-for-19 from the field in that one and needs to play an efficient game like that one on Sunday. One guy that will need to be more involved against the Spurs is SG Klay Thompson (22.3 PPG). Thompson had just 14 points on 5-for-13 shooting the last time these teams met. There is a lot less pressure on Curry and the rest of the Warriors when Thompson gets it going. Golden State would be wise to get him some looks early on in this one. PF Draymond Green (14.0 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 7.4 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.4 BPG) came up big in the win over Memphis on Saturday. Green had 23 points and 11 rebounds in that one. He also had three blocks and a steal. He’ll need to bring it on both ends of the floor on Sunday.

The Spurs will be looking to play the role of spoiler when they host the Warriors on Sunday. If San Antonio is going to win then the team will need huge performances from both SF Kawhi Leonard (21.5 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 1.8 SPG) and PF LaMarcus Aldridge (18.0 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 1.1 BPG). Leonard was really impressive the last time these teams met, finishing the game with 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor. The Spurs need him to be more aggressive in this one, as he is really tough to stop once he gets it going and is one of the best shot creators on this team. Aldridge, meanwhile, was miserable the last time these teams met. He had just 11 points on 5-for-16 shooting in that game and that is not going to cut it for San Antonio.
