In one of the more exciting races in the series, the winners from the past year will get together in the Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday. The drivers will be competing for bragging rights and a chance at the $1 million plus top prize. The race has taken place at Charlotte Motor Speedway since 1987 and the 1.5-mile, quad-oval track has seen plenty of action on its 24-degree turns. This year the race will be taking on a new form. There will be two 50-lap segments and 13 green flag laps as well. Last year it was four segments of 25 laps and 10 green flag laps. It’s worth noting that Jimmie Johnson has been dominant in this race in his career, winning a record four times (2003, 2006, 2012, 2013). With that out of the way, let’s now take a look at who could be the best of the best this week in Charlotte:

Jimmie Johnson (13-to-2) - As previously mentioned, Johnson has been the king of the All-Star Race in his career. He has already won this event four times and he is still not even being considered the favorite to win on Saturday. For that reason, it’s going to be extremely hard to not suggest putting a few units on Johnson. Not only has he been excellent here in the past, but Johnson is also having a fine season thus far. Johnson has already notched two victories on the season and five top-five finishes as well.

Joey Logano (10-to-1) - Joey Logano has had a very disappointing season, but it’s only a matter of time before he gets himself back on track. He is one of the most talented drivers and it’s hard to imagine that he won’t begin to show that soon. Logano won six Sprint Cup races a year ago and that display of dominance was not some type of mistake. He now has a chance to show out in the All-Star Race on Saturday and perhaps the smaller field will give him a chance to right the ship. He’s getting good odds at 10-to-1 and is worth a couple of units.

Tony Stewart (40-to-1) - It’s hard to choose a dark horse in a small field like this one, but one guy that really stands out is Tony Stewart. Although Stewart has not raced much this season, he does have experience and is one of the more accomplished drivers in this event. He won the All-Star Race back in 2009 and he will be hoping to do it again in his final season on the Sprint Cup Series. At 40-to-1, he’s worth a half-unit or quarter-unit because of his tremendous payout upside.
