NEW YORK YANKEES (69-63)

at BALTIMORE ORIOLES (72-61)

First pitch: Friday, 7:05 p.m. ET
Line: New York +100, Baltimore -110, Total: 9.0

The Yankees will be looking to win their third straight game when they face the Orioles on Friday.

New York has been playing very well recently and the team is now only 2.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race. The Yankees have a chance to really close in this weekend, as the Orioles are one of the teams that they are currently chasing. Baltimore lost two games in its three-game set with Toronto last series and could really use a win in this series with New York. The Orioles still feel as though they can win the AL East, but they are four games back right now and must put together a few winning streaks in order to make up ground. The starters in this big Friday night matchup are set to be RHP Chad Green (2-3, 4.09 ERA, 49 K) for New York and RHP Dylan Bundy (7-5, 3.71 ERA, 80 K) for Baltimore. One trend that favors the Yankees is the fact that they are 27-15 against the money line in road games revenging a loss where the team scored one run or less over the past three seasons. The Orioles, however, are also going to be confident coming into this game. Baltimore is 33-11 against the money line as a home favorite of -110 or higher this season and that is a very impressive number. OF Adam Jones (Hamstring) is, however, questionable for the Orioles and his absence would definitely hurt the team on Friday.

Chad Green is starting for the Yankees on Friday and he is going to need to be a lot better than he was against the Orioles in his last start. That game was just six days ago and Green allowed four earned runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings of work. The Orioles homered three times against Green and he can’t be so careless with his fastball. Baltimore is a team that has as many power hitters as any in the league and they are all hoping the young righty hangs pitches too high in the zone. Offensively, the Yankees will be counting on C Gary Sanchez (.374, 11 HR, 21 RBI) and 2B Starlin Castro (.269, 19 HR, 64 RBI). Sanchez homered off of Bundy the last time these teams met and Castro is 2-for-5 with two RBI against the righty. Castro also happens to be on a tear recently, raising his average from .261 to .269 over the past 10 games. He has racked up four homers and 10 RBI in that time and will be hoping to continue to produce this weekend.

The Orioles are trying to get back into the AL East race and will need a solid performance from Dylan Bundy in this game. Bundy had a rough outing against this Yankees team on Aug. 27, allowing five earned runs in four innings of work. New York got seven hits off of Bundy in that game and he’ll need to be a lot better this time around. Offensively, the Orioles are going to need 3B Manny Machado (.305, 32 HR, 83 RBI), OF Mark Trumbo (.253, 40 HR, 96 RBI) and 1B Chris Davis (.220, 32 HR, 72 RBI) to come up big in this one. Machado and Trumbo have been two of the most dangerous hitters in baseball this season. They should be able to take advantage of the Yankees’ rookie in this game. Davis, meanwhile, dominated Green in the last game, going 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBI. He’ll be hoping to go deep again on Friday.
