WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-2)
at NEW YORK GIANTS (2-0)

MetLife Stadium – East Rutherford, NJ
Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
Line: New York -5.0, Total: 45.5

The Giants will be looking to get off to a 3-0 start when they host the struggling Redskins on Sunday.

After winning the NFC East in 2015, the Redskins can’t possibly be happy with the way their season has started. Washington hosted Pittsburgh in Week 1 and lost 38-16 as a two-point underdog. The team then hosted Dallas and lost 27-23 as a three-point favorite. That game is one the Redskins really should have won and they’ll now be a desperate team when they take the field on Sunday. The Giants, meanwhile, hosted the Saints in Week 2 and won 16-13 as 3.5-point favorites. New York is now 2-0 and can really do itself a lot of good by burying the Redskins in the standings on Sunday. Recent history suggests that the Giants should be able to do that, as they are 3-1 both SU and ATS when facing the Redskins over the past three seasons. That includes a 2-0 record both SU and ATS when playing in New York. The Giants also happen to be an impressive 61-39 ATS when coming off of a home win since 1992 and now get to face a Redskins team that is 14-28 ATS after gaining 300 or more passing yards in its previous game in that span. WR DeSean Jackson (Knee) is questionable for Washington in this game, but he should be out there on Sunday.

The Redskins badly need a victory on Sunday and QB Kirk Cousins (693 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT) needs to be better for this Washington team moving forward. Cousins has thrown for over 300 yards in each of the past two games for the Redskins, but he has just one touchdown. He is not seeing the field well yet, and this is a major disappointment after a 2015 season that saw him throw for 4,166 yards, 29 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. One thing that might help this team offensively would be to get RB Matt Jones (85 yards, 1 TD) more involved. Jones rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries against the Cowboys and that is good for a very respectable 4.7 YPC. He has earned more touches for this team and it could help wear out the Giants defense if he is to be more involved on Sunday. Defensively, CB Josh Norman (11 tackles, 1 FF, 0 INT) will be shadowing Beckham Jr. in this one. If Norman can find a way to take the superstar wide receiver out of this one then the Redskins should come away with a big road win on Sunday.

QB Eli Manning (575 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT) is playing incredibly well to open up the season, as he had three touchdowns against Dallas in Week 1 and followed that up by completing 78.0% of his passes for 368 yards against the Saints in Week 2. Eli hasn’t been making some of the mistakes that fans are used to seeing him make and looks more comfortable than ever this season. He should be in for a big game against a Redskins team that couldn’t force rookie Dak Prescott to make any mistakes last week. WR Odell Beckham Jr. (12 rec, 159 yards, 0 TD) is going to need to play well in this game, but he also has to keep his cool. Beckham Jr. got into it with Josh Norman when the Giants took on the Panthers in 2015 and both players easily could have been ejected from that game. New York needs to have Beckham Jr. on the field, so he can’t afford to do it once again in this one. Defensively, this Giants team has looked great through two weeks and the secondary should be able to force Kirk Cousins into making some mistakes.
