at DALLAS COWBOYS (8-1)

Line: Dallas -7.0, Total: 45.0

The Cowboys will be going for their ninth straight victory when they host the Ravens on Sunday.

The Ravens have been playing well lately, as they have now won-and-covered in two straight games. They beat the Steelers 21-14 as three-point home underdogs two weeks ago and followed it up with a 28-7 victory as 7.5-point favorites against the Browns last week. Now they’ll be faced with the tough task of slowing down the Cowboys, who are currently the best team in the entire league. Dallas is coming off of one of its more impressive wins of the year, as the Cowboys beat the Steelers 35-30 as three-point road underdogs last week. The most impressive thing that they did in that game was keep RB Le’Veon Bell in check. Pittsburgh rushed for just 48 yards on 19 attempts in that game, and the Cowboys will be hoping to build on that in this meeting with the Ravens. Baltimore is, however, 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS when facing Dallas since 1992. John Harbaugh also happens to be 14-3 ATS after failing to cover in four or five out of his team’s past six games as the coach of Baltimore. LB Elvis Dumervil (Foot) is listed as questionable for the Ravens in this game, and CB Morris Claiborne (Groin) is out indefinitely for the Cowboys.

The Ravens are going for their third straight victory and QB Joe Flacco (2,374 yards, 9 TD, 9 INT) had one of his bigger games of the year last week. Flacco threw for 296 yards with three touchdowns and two picks against the Browns, and he’ll need to connect on some deep balls in order to help Baltimore earn a victory at AT&T Stadium. It’s important that he takes care of the ball, though, as his five picks in the past three games are concerning. With the way the Cowboys have been playing, he can’t afford to be handing them extra possessions. Baltimore will need to find some success on the ground in this one as well. RB Terrance West (510 yards, 3 TD) has been their guy for most of this season, but RB Kenneth Dixon (61 yards) could be in line for a bigger role moving forward. Dixon was very effective against the Browns last week, rushing for 38 yards on only six carries and also adding five receptions for 42 yards in the receiving game. Defensively, slowing down Elliott has to be the Ravens’ top concern. They’ll be able to live with Prescott beating them, but they know that Dallas wants to run and have to do something about it.

The Cowboys have officially named QB Dak Prescott (2.339 yards, 14 TD, 2 INT) their starter and he deserved it. Prescott just doesn’t make mistakes and that is a good quality for a team that has a great running back and a good defense. He’s no slouch though, either. Prescott is a very accurate passer and is capable of using his legs when plays break down. He should have a big game against a beatable Ravens secondary. This offense runs through RB Ezekiel Elliott (1,005 yards, 9 TD), though. Elliott just might be the best running back in the entire league, and he is only a rookie. Last week, Elliott rushed for 114 yards with two touchdowns against the Steelers. It was his second straight game with two scores. Now he’ll look to punish the Ravens with his physical style of running, and it’s difficult to say that he’ll have trouble doing so. Nobody has really been able to stop him this year and that shouldn’t change this weekend. Defensively, the Cowboys will need to be ready to stop a heavy dose of long balls on Sunday. The Ravens are not the type of team to ground-and-pound, so Joe Flacco will be looking to his deep threats often. If the Cowboys can neutralize those then this should be a blowout.
