The top golfers in the world try their luck at Royal Birkdale Golf Club for The Open Championship this weekend. There will be only one major left after this one, so the stakes are going to be high when these men take the course on Thursday. Last year, Henrik Stenson was the guy that came away with the victory. He shot a 20-under in that tournament, which is tied for the best score ever recorded in a major. His aggregate score of 264 was a record breaker. The runner-up in last year’s tournament was Phil Mickelson, who shot a 17-under. That would have been good enough for at least a first-place tie in every British Open since 2007. Only two guys in this field have won this tournament twice in their careers, and those would be Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington. Both were phenomenal in their primes, but it’d be hard for either of them to compete for a victory this weekend. Tiger Woods, meanwhile, has won this event three times, but he remains out with a back injury. With that out of the way, let’s now take a look at some of the best values to win this one:

Dustin Johnson (12-to-1) - Johnson is the best golfer in the world right now, but he has not played good golf since the middle of May. Johnson dealt with a bad back for most of the summer, but the expectation is that he is feeling healthy entering this tournament. If that is truly the case then it’s really hard to advise passing up on Johnson at 12-to-1. His game should translate really well to this golf course, and he’ll be hungry to win this tournament.

Jon Rahm (12-to-1) - Rahm has been incredible all season and he just might be the most confident player in the world when he gets out there on Thursday. Rahm had an impressive showing at the Irish Open a few weeks ago, shooting a 24-under to win by six strokes. That was a big victory for the 22-year-old, and he’ll now look to go ahead and win his first ever major on Sunday. At 12-to-1, he’s worth taking a shot on. He might be young, but he has all the talent in the world and he’ll be winning majors very shortly.

Jason Day (22-to-1) - Jason Day’s struggles this season have come as a surprise to everyone, but it’s still just impossible to count him out in any tournament. When Day is on his game, he is as good as anybody on the TOUR. He is not going to stay down forever, and there is no better time for him to snap out of his recent funk then on Thursday. At 22-to-1, it would certainly pay off big if he were to come away with a win on Sunday.

Matt Kuchar (75-to-1) - When looking for somebody that would provide a huge payout, Kuchar is a name that stands out. Kuchar is playing some incredible golf heading into this tournament, as he has finished inside the top-20 in four straight events. He shot a five-under at the U.S. Open in mid-June, and he tied for fourth at The Masters. Kuchar clearly plays well when the pressure is on, and he’ll do everything he can to give himself a chance on Sunday. That’s worth a risk at 75-to-1.
