PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (8-1)
at DALLAS COWBOYS (5-4)

AT&T Stadium – Dallas, TX
Kickoff: Sunday, 8:25 p.m. ET
Line: Philadelphia -4.0, Total: 49.0

The Cowboys will be hoping to earn a gigantic home victory over the Eagles on Sunday.

Philadelphia has been the best team in football this season, as the Eagles are 8-1 and have absolutely dominated their opponents. Philadelphia currently has a point differential of +104, which is the second-best mark in football. The Eagles have also won seven straight, so they are feeling good about themselves entering this game. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are coming off of a rough loss to the Falcons. Atlanta won that game 27-7, and Dallas is now in some trouble moving forward. The Cowboys need to start winning some games in order to make it to the postseason, so this one at home is as big as could be. One trend that favors Dallas in this game is the fact that Philadelphia is 0-6 ATS in road games versus teams that are averaging 5.65 or more yards per play over the past two seasons. The Cowboys are, however, an equally miserable 0-7 ATS in home games after scoring 14 points or less in their previous game under head coach Jason Garrett. Dallas will also be without RB Ezekiel Elliott in this game, as the running back is still suspended for his role in a lingering domestic violence case.

The Eagles are scorching hot right now, but that doesn’t mean that they’re complacent. This team is not good enough to start getting cocky right now. Philadelphia will continue to try to win games, and it’d be big for them to beat a division rival here. QB Carson Wentz is the player to watch in this one. Wentz is only in his second year in the NFL, but he is already one of the league’s best quarterbacks. He has already thrown for a ridiculous 2,262 yards with 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions. He now faces a defense that is definitely beatable through the air. It would, however, help Wentz significantly if RB Jay Ajayi could have a big game here. Ajayi has now had some time to absorb the playbook after being acquired from the Dolphins at the deadline. He rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries in his Eagles debut, though. So it’s not like he was ineffective before the team’s bye week either. On defense, the Eagles will need to do their best to keep Dak Prescott from making plays with his legs. Without Elliott, the Cowboys will lean heavier on their quarterback. That makes it easier for Philadelphia to plan for this one.

As mentioned earlier, the Cowboys no longer have Ezekiel Elliott active and that is really going to hurt this team. The expectation was that anybody would be able to run behind this elite offensive line, but that wasn’t really the case last week. Dallas rushed for only 107 yards in that one against Atlanta, but 42 of those yards came from QB Dak Prescott. Prescott will probably need to continue to make plays with his legs, but that won’t be as easy when teams start to focus on him. This is a time of the year when the Cowboys might need WR Dez Bryant and TE Jason Witten more than usual. Bryant is still capable of being an elite receiver, and Witten is definitely a productive pass-catcher still. WR Cole Beasley is also a guy that could be able to contribute in this one, as the Eagles will definitely focus a lot of their attention on Bryant. Defensively, Dallas will have to be able to stop Ajayi here but the real goal is to slow down the passing game. If Wentz is able to comfortably sit in the pocket here then he will pick the Cowboys apart. Fortunately, Dallas does have a number of guys capable of getting after the passer.
