(STATS) - Dayton starting quarterback Alex Jeske continues to recover from a foot injury and is projected to return to the Flyers' lineup after missing several games next month.
The redshirt junior and team captain suffered a Jones fracture, breaking the little toe in his left foot, shortly before Dayton's preseason camp. Surgery on Aug. 1 was successful.
Dayton finished 9-2 last season as Jeske averaged 238.5 yards of total offense per game, throwing for 15 touchdowns and rushing for 15 more. He was an honorable mention selection for the All-Pioneer Football League team.
Redshirt sophomores Will Bobek and Kyle Kaparos are competing to be the season-opening quarterback Sept. 2 at Robert Morris.
