SUNSET, S.C. (AP) - Clemson coach Dabo Swinney wants little to do with last year's breakthrough, 11-win season and tossed out a magazine featuring ACC player of the year Tajh Boyd to prove it.
The accolades that often follow special seasons don't matter to Swinney or the Tigers as they prepare for preseason camp and the new year. So far, Swinney says his players haven't proved they can match what happened a year ago.
Swinney likes the single-mindedness the team has brought to its offseason workouts and believes they can handle the sky-high expectations ahead after going 11-2 in 2012. That's why Swinney dumped a magazine with Boyd on the cover in the trash at a team meeting. The coach says the message is prove you belong before crowing about what you can do.
