TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona blew out Northern Arizona in its opener, exactly what it was supposed to do against an overmatched FCS opponent.
The Wildcats were far from perfect, though, leaving them with plenty to work on before their next game.
Arizona beat NAU 35-0 behind solid games from quarterback B.J. Denker, running back Daniel Jenkins and its opportunistic defense.
But the Wildcats had an awful day on special teams, including two muffed punts and a missed field goal, their offensive line was passive at times and the game plan was more bland than usual under coach Rich Rodriguez.
Arizona has just a few days to work out the kinks from the opener with its next game at UNLV on Saturday.
