SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Two losses. That's what Syracuse's Scott Shafer has after two games as coach.

He's not deterred.

Shafer says Tuesday ``the biggest key for us is to continue to make progress in the areas, the pieces, the formula that we believe in. We're going to stay the course and make the formula work.''

That formula didn't work too well against Northwestern, which moved up two spots in the national rankings to No. 17 after its 48-27 victory over Syracuse on Saturday.

Orange quarterback Drew Allen threw four interceptions against the Wildcats, giving him six in the two games.

Syracuse, which started the season with a 23-17 loss to Penn State at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, hosts Wagner (1-1) on Saturday in the Orange's home opener in the Carrier Dome.
