FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - TCU has been to Texas Tech only once since the old Southwest Conference disbanded.
And that was a strange game nine years ago.
Visiting TCU jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held Texas Tech's big-play passing attack without a score its first seven possessions. Then the Red Raiders scored on five drives in a row, on way to putting up 56 unanswered points in a 70-35 victory.
That's still the most-lopsided loss for TCU coach Gary Patterson.
Now the 24th-ranked Horned Frogs go there as a Big 12 team for the first time, on Thursday night.
Texas Tech co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie was the Red Raiders' quarterback in 2004. He remembers the boos before things turned around, and he threw for 441 yards and four touchdowns.
