SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame running back Amir Carlisle calls it an ``interesting, fun dynamic'' that he will be facing Purdue on Saturday, where his father is the football team's director of sports performance.
More important to Carlisle: He says it's a must-win for the 21st-ranked Irish (1-1) following their loss at Michigan last week.
Carlisle appears to be emerging as Notre Dame's top running threat, although he's still listed as No. 2 on the depth chart. Carlisle is leading the team with 19 carries for 132 yards, while George Atkinson III has 13 carries for 71 yards.
Carlisle says he's not worried where he is on the depth chart. Coach Brian Kelly says he's been impressed by Carlisle's yards after being hit, but says it's too early to name a top back.
