PITTSBURGH (AP) - Surging Pittsburgh hosts Virginia on Saturday in an early season showdown to see which team is a legitimate contender in the ACC Coastal Division.
The Panthers (2-1, 1-1 are looking for their first three-game winning streak since 2010 and are coming off a 58-55 win over Duke. The Cavaliers (2-1) bounced back from a loss to Oregon by shutting out VMI a week ago.
Pitt coach Paul Chryst says he's pleased with his team's progress but not satisfied. The Panthers allowed Duke to get back in the game after trailing by 23 points in the second half. Chryst says Pitt needs to learn how to finish opponents.
The Cavaliers went just 1-4 on the road last season and coach Mike London said traveling to Pitt will provide a major test.
