Virginia Tech (6-3, 3-2 ACC) at No. 14 Miami (7-1, 3-1), 7 p.m. (ESPN)

Line: Miami by 6 1/2.

Series record: Miami leads 18-12.

WHAT'S AT STAKE

Nothing will be clinched Saturday, but the winner will be in control of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division race. Miami enters this week as the only one-loss team in the Coastal. Virginia Tech is trying to avoid its second three-game conference losing streak in as many seasons. Before last year, the Hokies hadn't had a three-game slide in league play since they were in the Big East.

KEY MATCHUP

Miami RB Dallas Crawford against Virginia Tech's defensive front. The Hokies are 26-5 since November 2008 when holding teams to 3.1 yards (or less) per carry, and now with Duke Johnson (broken right ankle) lost for the season, Crawford takes over as Miami's go-to back. If the Hokies keep Crawford in check, that would put a ton of pressure on Miami's passing game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Virginia Tech: QB Logan Thomas. Hot and cold throughout his career, Thomas has six interceptions in the Hokies' last two games (both losses). He had six interceptions in the first seven games of the season, total. If he controls the game, the Hokies have a great chance. If he gives Miami some gifts, the Hokies will probably be in trouble.

Miami: WR Allen Hurns. He's already set season-highs in catches (33) and yards (590), and comes into this weekend eight catches shy of the 100 mark for his Miami career. The Hurricanes need the senior wideout to keep being dependable, especially now that Johnson is out of the backfield mix.

FACTS & FIGURES

Miami has won seven straight at home, including a win over Virginia Tech last season. When the ACC expanded to 14 teams for football, one of the scheduling quirks was that the Hokies visit the Hurricanes in consecutive years. ... Miami QB Stephen Morris has 10 interceptions already this season, after throwing only seven last year. ... Virginia Tech teammates Kendall Fuller (five) and Brandon Facyson (four) rank second and third, respectively, in the ACC interception race. ... The Hokies have lost seven straight games in NFL stadiums - the Hurricanes play their home games at Sun Life Stadium, home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
