PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh is heading to a bowl game for a sixth straight season, and the good news for the Panthers is there's almost no chance they'll head back to Birmingham.
Pitt (6-5, 3-4 ACC) has played in the last three BBVA Compass Bowls, with mixed results at best. The school's move to the ACC means they'll play somewhere else this time around, though the Panthers know they can make their destination a little more exotic with a victory over Miami (8-3, 4-3) on Friday.
It has been an up and down season for Pitt, where solid wins have been met with befuddling losses. Senior offensive lineman Ryan Schlieper says there's a big difference between finishing a season 6-6 and finishing it 7-5 with wins over Notre Dame and Miami.
