FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Wide receiver Julian Edelman says he feels more security now that he's signed a contract keeping him with the New England Patriots.
But he says it was a dream to visit his old home area when he visited the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent. Edelman decided to stay with the Patriots and signed a contract reportedly worth $17 million over four years earlier this week.
Edelman led the Patriots with a career-high 105 catches last season. He played under a one-year deal, then explored the market. But he says New England is home now.
He has been with the Patriots the past five seasons after they drafted him in the seventh round out of Kent State in 2009.
