CLEVELAND (AP) - Cleveland Pro Bowl center Alex Mack signed an offer sheet with Jacksonville on Friday, the Jaguars said.
The Browns have five days to match and are expected to do so. Cleveland secured that right after placing a $10 million transition tag on Mack before free agency opened. Based on reports, it's a five-year, $42 million offer.
The team entered free agency with re-signing Mack as a top priority. On Tuesday night, owner Jimmy Haslam said he was optimistic ''Alex Mack will be a Cleveland Brown for a long time.''
Mack has played 4,998 consecutive snaps since he was drafted by Cleveland in 2009. He made his second Pro Bowl last season.
