Bellator 73: Vegh vs. Wiuff Friday, August 24 – 9:00 p.m. ET Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino – Tunica, MS Attila Vegh (27-4-2) vs. Travis Wiuff (68-14) Light heavyweight bout Line: Wiuff -220, Vegh +170, Travis Wiuff and Attila Vegh will come to blows in the Bellator 2012 light heavyweight tournament final on Friday night in Tunica, MS. Vegh and Wiuff are both MMA veterans with significant experience, with Wiuff even having fought two bouts for UFC. Vegh enters this bout the winner of seven in a row, most recently earning a split decision over Emanuel Newton to reach this final fight. Wiuff has won six straight fights and has made easy work of it with three of those six bouts never leaving the first round. Ultimately, even at 34 years old, Wiuff may not quite be the fighter he once was, but also has not shown the true signs of slowing down. He has been much more impressive in this Bellator tournament than Vegh, and should have no problem winning this bout any which way. Even as a favorite, play on WIUFF to win here. This will be Vegh’s fourth Bellator fight, having already gone 3-0. Two of those wins, however, were close split decisions—with different judges, he easily could not have made it this far. The other win was an impressive rear naked choke submission of Zelg Galesic. If Vegh wants to win on Friday, he’ll likely have to end it early like that. Wiuff has lost just twice in his career via decision, while he’s been defeated a combined 12 times by knockout (eight) and submission (four). A true veteran, Wiuff has consistently demonstrated he can be flexible in his attacking approach. With 68 career wins, he has won via decision 23 times, submission 23 times and knockout 22 times. Of his four career Bellator bouts, he owns a KO over Chris Davis and unanimous decisions over Tim Carpenter, Anthony Gomez and Christian M’Pumbu. While both of these fighters stand at 6-foot-2, Wiuff holds a one-inch reach advantage over Vegh here, which could help him secure this victory.
