KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Kansas City Chiefs signed unrestricted free agent Wade Smith to a two-year contract.

Smith has been primarily a tackle in his six-year career, but is expected to compete for the center spot with Kansas City, the Chiefs said Monday.

The 6-foot-4, 296-pound Smith played the last two seasons with the New York Jets, primarily as an offensive lineman and on special teams. He's also played with the Miami Dolphins, which picked him in the third round in 2003.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed by the Chiefs.
