EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Kentucky coach Rich Brooks avoided injury Monday when a boat he was on capsized on the McKenzie River northeast of Springfield.

The Register-Guard newspaper reported the boat overturned after a strong current pushed it into a log. Brooks swam to a gravel bar after falling in the water.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office said two other men were on the boat and one received treatment for a minor hand injury.

The 66-year-old Brooks coached the University of Oregon from 1977-94 and has a place in Springfield.
