ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -Washington Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels was undergoing tests on his left knee Sunday after injuring it during the first practice of training camp.

Daniels was hurt on the first play of 7-on-7 offense vs. defense drills.

He stayed down on the turf for several minutes before being taken away on a cart.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn said Daniels was having an MRI exam on the knee. Zorn added that the team is ``hoping that all it is, is a hyperextension.''

Daniels has played 12 seasons in the NFL with Washington, Chicago and Seattle. His 59 career sacks rank 17th among active players.
