DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -Brian France says NASCAR's drug-testing policy is a fair system that protects its competitors and fans from the dangers of an impaired driver on the race track.

The NASCAR chairman says the drug policy is still the best in professional sports, despite a federal judge's decision to reinstate driver Jeremy Mayfield.

Mayfield was indefinitely suspended May 9 after failing a random test. NASCAR has said he tested positive for methamphetamines.

On Wednesday, a judge issued an injunction to allow Mayfield to race this weekend based on Mayfield's argument that NASCAR's testing system is flawed.

France says in the interest of safety, NASCAR should be able to suspend a driver who has a positive drug test result.
