TROY, Ala. (AP) - The Troy Trojans have done some needed reloading on defense.

Coach Larry Blakeney said at Saturday's media day that the Trojans are better and deeper but aren't close to where they need to be.

The Trojans finished 113th nationally in total defense last season and allowed 38-plus points seven times. That's a big reason they went 3-9 after winning five straight Sun Belt Conference championships. It was Troy's first losing season since 2005.

Blakeney signed a recruiting class heavy on defense. That group includes Southern California transfer cornerback T.J. Bryant and junior college cornerback Zach Miller.

Offensively, quarterback Corey Robinson is closing in on several Troy career passing marks.

The Trojans face Navy and Mississippi State at home this season and play at Tennessee.
