TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa will be without its top wide receiver for the rest of the season after senior Bryan Burnham tore a ligament in his right knee in the season opener.

Coach Bill Blankenship announced after practice Tuesday night that an MRI showed that Burnham had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. Burnham had led all Golden Hurricane wide receivers last season with 54 catches for 850 yards and nine touchdowns.

Only halfback Willie Carter had more receptions and yards receiving last season.

Burnham was hurt in the fourth quarter of Tulsa's 38-23 loss at Iowa State on Saturday. He finished with a team-best nine catches for 90 yards.

Blankenship says Burnham will need surgery.
