EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The second half of the game between Southern California and Syracuse at MetLife Stadium has started after a 69-minute delay.

The teams briefly came out to start warming up for the second half, but were sent back to the locker rooms well before the rain started.

No. 2 USC was leading 14-3.

As dark clouds rolled in, an announcement was made over the stadium public address system and posted on the scoreboard, urging fans to ``leave the seating bowl area and take shelter inside the stadium because of lightning in the area.''

It rained hard and winds blew strong enough to make the goal posts wiggle, but the storm passed without any lightning being spotted.

Severe weather was all over the New York area Saturday, with reports of possible tornadoes touching down just over the Hudson River in Brooklyn and Queens.
