NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Officials say Tulane safety Devon Walker remains in stable condition in an Oklahoma hospital after fracturing his spine during a game in Tulsa.

Roger Dunaway is the assistant athletic director for Tulane University. Dunaway said Sunday that Walker's parents had arrived at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa on Saturday night.

Dunaway says officials, coaches and players are praying for the best for Walker.

Walker, a senior, was hurt on the final play of the first half. Walker and a defensive tackle sandwiched a Tulsa player who had caught a pass, apparently smashing their helmets into each other.

Dr. Buddy Savoie said during a postgame news conference that Walker never completely lost consciousness and was breathing on his own. Walker will need surgery in the next day or two.
