TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A Tulane University doctor says it is not yet clear if a football player who suffered a spinal injury while making a tackle will be paralyzed.

Dr. Greg Stewart, Tulane's director of sports medicine, says the full extent of Devon Walker's injury may not become clear until midweek.

Stewart says doctors do not yet know what the long-term implications and outcomes of Walker's injury will be.

The doctor says he was with Walker on the field, in the ambulance and at the hospital on Saturday. He says Walker was put into a cervical collar and couldn't see much of what was happening, so Stewart explained what was going on.

Stewart says Walker was talking with doctors as he was being treated.
