STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Maryland football coach Randy Edsall is expressing some regret over how he left the University of Connecticut.

Edsall took the job at Maryland after leading UConn to a loss in the 2011 Fiesta Bowl. He never said goodbye to his players, who found out about the move from others after Edsall failed to fly back to Connecticut with the team.

Edsall said Tuesday that is something he will have to live with.

UConn (1-1), which lost to N.C. State last week, travels to Maryland (2-0) on Saturday for the Huskies' first game against their former coach.

Senior defensive tackle Ryan Wirth says it won't be hard to get fired up for this one. But UConn coach Paul Pasqualoni says he's cautioned players to put their focus on the game and not get involved in outside distractions.
