NEW YORK (AP) - The mother of paralyzed Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand is reaching out to the parents of the Tulane player whose spinal cord was severely injured during a game.

Karen LeGrand tells The Associated Press on Tuesday she and her son will make themselves available to Devon Walker and his family in any way they can.

Walker was hurt trying to make a tackle Saturday in Tulane's game at Tulsa. He underwent three hours of surgery the next day and was in stable condition Monday at a Tulsa hospital. The long-term prognosis is still not clear.

Eric LeGrand injured his spine in 2010 while making tackle during a game against Army. He was paralyzed below the shoulders. Now he is able to do physical therapy five days a week, with the hope of walking again.
