BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Faced with an offense that has failed to score a touchdown in two of its first three games this season, Boise State coach Chris Petersen vows he's not about to panic.

Instead, Petersen is preaching patience for a unit that failed to get in the end zone in the opener against Michigan State and again last Thursday in a 7-6 victory over Brigham Young.

Such scoring woes are uncharacteristic for the Broncos (2-1), who have averaged a national best 41.75 points per game since 2000.

But this season, the Bronco offense led by new quarterback Joe Southwick has struggled.

As the No. 24 Broncos prepare for New Mexico on Saturday, Petersen says coaches will look to simplify the playbook and devote more practice time to red zone efficiency.
