SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Former Oklahoma running back Clendon Thomas still remembers a 7-0 loss to Notre Dame in 1957 as the one that got away.

The Sooners had beaten the Irish 40-0 in South Bend the season before in what remains the worst home loss ever for the Fighting Irish. The Sooners were 18-point favorites, but couldn't score and lost when Dick Lynch scored on a pitch wide right on fourth-and-3 with 3:50 left. The loss ended an NCAA-record 47-game winning streak.

That game is probably the most memorable in a series that resumes Saturday when the No. 5 Irish (7-0) face the eighth-ranked Sooners (5-1). The Irish hold an 8-1 lead, with six of those victories coming when the Sooners were ranked in the top 10.
