SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says he won't be giving his players a history lesson before the Fighting Irish host Pittsburgh on Saturday.
A decade ago, when the Irish were last 8-0, they were upset at home by Boston College following a big victory at then-No. 11 Florida State. Now the Irish are 8-0 again following a big victory at then-No. 8 Oklahoma. The Sooners, like the Seminoles, had been nearly unbeatable at home.
Kelly says he won't use 2002 as a cautionary tale to remind his team to guard against a letdown against Pitt (4-4). He says the Irish will hear enough about that from others.
Kelly says the key for the Irish is to work to make sure they prepare properly for each opponent.
