NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the New York Giants by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

---

NEW YORK GIANTS (9)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 11) - Bye week needed. Game with Packers is not.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 11) - Need to get offense back on track. We'll see if the bye helped.

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 9) - Hopefully the time off and rest will be what the doctor ordered for Eli Manning and the offense.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 9) - Giants return from bye rested and ready, but the schedule is a killer down the stretch. It starts with Green Bay at home on Sunday night and includes games against New Orleans, Baltimore and Atlanta. That one-game lead over Dallas looks mighty tenuous.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 12) - The Giants have recovered five fumbles this season on special-teams alone.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 11) - It's that time of year again, only now Eli has to prove Phil Simms wrong, too.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 9) - Expect a renewed commitment from Coughlin's crew after the bye week.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 11) - On a well needed bye. They better return to the form of September or they are heading down the rankings.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 12) - The Giants are much better than this team indicates, but they haven't played like it. This is the time where Tom Couglin and this team have made their runs in past years. Are they ready after their bye? We shall see.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 9) - The Giants must hope the rest and coaching adjustments that come during a bye week help end a two-game losing streak.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 11) - If they are going to finish strong, they are going to earn it. Up next: Packers, at Redskins, Saints, at Falcons, at Ravens.
