JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Jacksonville State has released football coach Jack Crowe from his contract with two years remaining. Athletic director Warren Koegel announced the decision Friday, saying that ``during this time of transition the expectations of our department remain the same.'' Crowe, a former Arkansas head coach, led the Gamecocks to an 87-57 record over 13 seasons, including his third Ohio Valley Conference title in 2011. He led the FCS program to the playoffs three times but didn't win a postseason game. The Gamecocks upset Mississippi two years ago but finished 6-5 this season. He has the second-most wins in Jacksonville State history. Don Salls had 95 over 18 seasons. Crowe said he felt like the program had progressed during his tenure but ``there is still a lot left to be done.''
