WASHINGTON (AP) - Maybe they should call it the Transition Bowl.

For the third consecutive year, the Military Bowl had coaching news between the selection date and the game.

This season, it's more complicated than usual as San Jose State prepares to face Bowling Green on Thursday in Washington, D.C.

Mike MacIntyre has left San Jose State for Colorado. Defensive coordinator Kent Baer was selected as the interim coach for the bowl game and wanted the job full-time, but he wasn't even granted an interview.

Instead, San Diego's Ron Caragher was hired, and he'll be attending the game as an observer, while Baer is going to follow MacIntyre to Colorado.

Baer says the whole situation can be confusing, but he's focusing on trying to finish one of the best seasons in Spartans history.
